I attended my cousin's birthday luncheon recently and with limited seats for all 25 of us, we ate Kampong-style. We had an assorted array of local delicacies mixed with kebabs, lambchops and of course a birthday cake.

One of the many daily rituals seen in Bandar is when the Kampong Ayer (Water Village) residents come to the shore for work, go to school or to visit their extended families.

The Marine Centre at the Empire Hotel provides a variety of activities for hotel guests and non-hotel guests. There are banana boat rides, jet-skis and boat rides. Sunday Splash is also a popular theme for families with children where there are fun games and bouncers.
